    In Hollywood in the late 1920s during the waning days of the industry's transition to sound film, producer and studio head Alfie Alperin wants to produce a great Western movie about Wyatt Earp. But while Earp and Mix are involved in their movie adventure, they also get caught up in a real case of murder, prostitution, and corruption.     Hollywood, 1929. Tom Mix, éblouissant comedien au faite de sa gloire, se voit confier le rôle d'un celebre cow-boy, Wyatt Earp. Le légendaire marshal étant toujours vivant, le producteur de Tom, Alperin, lui demande de venir comme conseiller technique sur le plateau. Earp va retrouver Christina qu'il a connue autrefois, devenue l'épouse soumise et maltraitée d'Alperin. Cette dernière lui demande de veiller sur son fils Michael, jeune homme instable et alcoolique. Alperin voit cette ancienne amitié qui se renoue d'un très mauvais oeil.
