Following an urgent request for assistance, a Croton spaceship is allowed to land on Alpha. The occupants of the ship turn out to be two beautiful women, Sahala and Yesta, and their prisoner, a Psychon named Dorzak. Sahala explains that they are taking him into exile for crimes he has committed against her people. Maya refuses to believe her story, remembering Dorzak as a peaceful philosopher. She visits Dorzak in the form of Sahala in order to learn the truth. At first Dorzak is fooled and Maya learns he is as evil as Sahala had said. But Dorzak unmasks Maya and uses his strong telepathic powers to learn the art of molecular transformation.
