The Royal Ballet's revival of Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet was more eagerly awaited than usual, marking Cuban guest principal Carlos Acosta's debut as the tragic lover. Tamara Rojo pairs up with Acosta once again, this time as Juliet, having already partnered him in Giselle and Manon. Jose Martin and Thiago Soares also star.
"Acosta danced his first Romeo. At once, it became one of his best roles... He throws himself into the dancing, and suddenly the drama takes care of itself. By pouring out steps, Acosta shows us Romeo's heart... Rojo is an alert Juliet, quick to think and plan... There was a strong cast around these lovers... The company is on good form."
