Never Say Never Again (1983)

Never Say Never Again, released in 1983 by Warner Bros. and directed by Irvin Kershner is an adaptation of the James Bond novel Thunderball, which was previously filmed in 1965 as Thunderball. Unlike the majority of Bond films, it was not produced by EON Productions. Because of this, it is referred to as an "unofficial" James Bond film by EON fans. The film, like the original, stars Sean Connery as British Secret Service agent James Bond 007. The film also starring Kim Basinger, Klaus Maria Brandauer, Barbara Carrera and Max von Sydow.

Never Say Never Again (1983)

Plot: The film opens with a middle-aged, yet still athletic James Bond making his way through an armed camp in the midst of a Central American jungle. His mission is to rescue a girl who has been kidnapped. After killing the kidnappers, Bond lets his guard down and is stabbed to death by the captive… or so it seems. In fact, it is nothing more than a field training exercise, which Bond has failed - and apparently not for the first time.
A new M is now in office, one who sees little use for the double-0 section. Feeling that Bond is slipping, M orders him to enroll in a health clinic in London to get back into shape. While there, Bond succeeds in charming the uniform off Miss Fearing, a staff nurse. Later, Bond witnesses a mysterious nurse named Fatima Blush giving a sadomasochistic beating to her pliant patient in a room across the way. The man is wrapped in bandages; and after Fatima is through with him, Bond sees him using a strange machine which scans his eye. Bond is seen and an attempt is made to kill him in the clinic gym, however he manages to defeat the assassin using a sample of his own urine.
Blush and her charge, an American Air Force pilot named Jack Petachi, are in fact operatives of SPECTRE, a criminal organization run by Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Petachi has undergone an operation on his right eye to make it match a different retinal pattern, which he uses to circumvent security at an American military base in England. He sees to it that the dummy warheads in two ALCM cruise missiles are replaced with live W80 nuclear warheads. SPECTRE obtains the warheads to extort billions of dollars from the government. Blush then murders Petachi by putting a snake in his car, causing him to veer out of control and crash into a wall, then blowing up his car. M reluctantly reactivates the double-0 section, and Bond is assigned the task of tracking down the missing weapons.
