    Moonfleet is a 1955 film by Fritz Lang which was inspired by the novel Moonfleet by J. Meade Falkner, though significant alterations were made in the characters and plot. A gothic melodrama set in the eighteenth century, the film is about John Mohune, a young orphan, played by Jon Whiteley, who is sent to the Dorset village of Moonfleet to stay with an old friend of his mother's, Jeremy Fox. Fox, played by Stewart Granger, is a morally ambiguous character, an elegant gentleman involved with smugglers and pirates

    1757 en Angleterre. Le jeune orphelin John Mohune arrive à Moonfleet, petit port isolé, pour retrouver un ami de sa mère, Jeremy Fox, flibustier notoire. Jeremy Fox l'envoie au collège mais John s'échappe et retourne au chateau de Mohune qui appartint à sa famille et qu'occupe aujourd'hui Fox. John apprend par lord Ashwood l'existence d'un diamant magnifique que son grand-père lui a laissé en héritage. Avec Fox, il se met à la recherche du joyau.
