Martín a sus treinta años, se siente fracasado y ha decidido suicidarse, pero cuando está apunto de tirarse por el puente aparece Salva, que le propone "retrasar" su muerte a un par de semanas para pedir un millón de dólares a unos prestamistas y darse "La Gran Vida" durante ese tiempo, disfrutando de los placeres de la vida. Transcurrido el plazo los prestamistas apretarían el gatillo por él.

Martin, un chauffeur de bus déprimé, a décidé de mettre fin à ses jours. C'est alors qu'il rencontre un homme mystérieux qui lui propose un marché : il lui permet, pendant une semaine, de disposer d'un million de dollars. Grisé par sa nouvelle vie de flambeur, Martin tombe follement amoureux de Lola, une jolie serveuse rebelle et indépendante. Le suicide n'est plus à l'ordre du jour, par contre, il lui faut s'acquitter d'une petite dette.

Salma Hayek is Lola, a Mexican waitress who befriends Martin (Carmelo Gomez), a young, free-spending millionaire. There is a little secret behind his money: he has borrowed one a million dollars with which to have a good time on the day before he commits suicide. After realizing that he is in love with Lola, he feels he has a reason to live–but then must contend with the dangerous folks from whom he borrowed the money.
