While San-Jin Kim's follow up to "Attack the Gas Station" is a much more involved effort (many more locations, characters, and more complex fight scenes), as well as featuring many familiar faces, it appears that AtGS raised the bar a little too high.
Certainly, there are many funny moments in the film, although lacking some of the absurdist tone of AtGS. Much more violent as well, although lacking much of the political overtones of its predecessor (as it is, violence feels almost glamorized at times).
However, it can definitely stand on its own. Telling the story of a bizarre love triangle between a school intellect turned gangster, a teenage thug turned teacher, and a noodle shop owner, it makes for an interesting comedy which takes on some rather screw-ball tendencies.
Despite the sometimes gritty subject matter, the heart of the film is all about friendship (almost in the same vein as John Woo's "The Killer", even), with the rivalries of the two main characters being cast aside when necessary.
