Tratto da una storia vera, Il Messaggero racconta il terrificante episodio di una famiglia alle prese con le forze oscure del mondo soprannaturale.
Quando i Campbell si trasferiscono nel Connecticut, apprendono immediatamente che la loro bella casa vittoriana ha una storia inquietante: non solo in passato era una camera mortuaria dove accaddero incredibili fatti, ma scoprono che il figlio chiaroveggente del proprietario - Jonah - si prestava da messaggero demoniaco, fungendo da "ingresso" al passaggio di spiriti sinistri. Un terrore inenarrabile si presenta quando Jonah ritorna per scatenare nuove paure, questa volta nell'innocente e ignara famigliola.
