Synopsis
The festival mood of Durga Puja at Ratanlal Babu's house is disrupted by the arrival of a stranger, Gandharva Kumar. The handsome young man captivates the grandchildren of Ratanlal Babu, Habul, and Tinni, with his magic tricks. When confronted by Ratanlal Babu, the stranger reveals a long-forgotten secret wherein he claims to be heir to the family property. The shocking prospect of being rendered destitute casts a gloom. Dramatic incidents reveal that the stranger is a fake. While the magic trick works, this one does not.
Director's Biography
Thirtyone year old Rituparna Gosh, even with a masters in economics, has always had an interest in the communication arts. Since his early teens he used to work with his father, a documentary film maker, from the ideation stage of a film to its completion. Ghosh has been working with an advertising to concentrate on a wide range of audio-visual projects. His work covers TV-and cinema commercials for industrial and consumer products, as well as for public service communication. Ghosh has won eighteen awards so far in advertising. Ghosh made his first independent documentary in 1990, a telefilm "Bande Mataram" on Bankim Chandra's" anthem, "Hirer Angti" is his first feature film. Ghosh lives in Calcutta.
