Moonraker (1979)

James Bond (Roger Moore, here on his fourth mission) is to investigate the disappearance of a Space Shuttle (called Moonraker, in fact). Was to shield it from the billionaire Hugo Drax (Michael Lonsdale), the same who had won the British government.

007 scoprirà presto le diaboliche intenzioni del villain, che vuole creare una sorta di nuova razza terrestre e a questo scopo seleziona giovani coppie che trasporterà provvisoriamente nello spazio in 6 Moonraker (il furto di uno di essi era dovuto proprio ad una avaria avuta nel collaudo di una unità).
Drax vorrebbe distruggere preliminarmente ogni forma di vita umana (non animale o vegetale) sulla Terra, spargendo dalla sua stazione spaziale (dal diametro di 200 metri, ma resa invisibile dalla Terra da una opportuna schermatura radar) 50 grossi bulbi contenenti gas nervino; ogni bulbo, lanciato ad intervalli regolari è in grado di sterminare 100 milioni di esseri umani. Farà in tempo a sganciarne solo tre e toccherà a Bond e alla sua alleata, l'agente della CIA dottoressa Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles), distruggerli in tempo.
