La storia continua con le avventure di don Camillo, sollevato dall'incarico di parroco del suo paesino per punizione, cui si aggiunge il viaggio forzato nella remota parrocchia di Montenara, sperduta tra i monti. Qui, in un ambiente freddo, svolge il suo ministero nel luogo frequentato dalla sola perpetua. Nel frattempo nel paese di Don Camillo, Peppone si ritrova ad affrontare molti problemi e non ha neanche l'aiuto del nuovo parroco.

Solo il ritorno di don Camillo porrà fine alle dispute che coinvolgono anche un proprietario terriero (Cagnola), che non voleva cedere parte delle sue terre per costruire un argine sul Po, per prevenire alluvioni, e che, in un alterco, ferisce il compagno detto "il nero", credendo di averlo addirittura ucciso e viene ferito a sua volta da Peppone, che anch'esso teme di averlo ammazzato. Entrambi per avere un alibi si rivolgono a Don Camillo nel suo esilio a Montenara. Don Camillo riesce a calmare la situazione, strappando la promessa a Cagnola che egli avrebbe ceduto le terre necessarie per fare l'argine.

Per questo fatto, Peppone si rivolge al vescovo per far tornare Don Camillo al suo paesino, e viene accontentato, con l'ammonimento da parte del prelato, che poi non venga più a lamentarsi se riceverà ancora tavolate in testa. Al ritorno al paese Don Camillo dovrà porre fine ad una rissa alla casa del popolo scoppiata al termine di un incontro di Boxe, organizzato appositamente in contemporanea con l'arrivo del parroco alla stazione, per evitare ad esso un bagno di folla che sarebbe stato "il trionfo della reazione".

Poi accade che Cagnola si rimangia la promessa delle terre, ritenendo l' argine inutile per prevenire alluvioni, che puntualmente si verificheranno subito, e in modo tale che anche l'argine eventualmente costruito non sarebbe servito a niente. Anche il "Nero" se la cava, ma il vecchio medico del paese, il dott. Spiletti, conservatore ma amato dal popolo per la sua professionalità sempre dimostrata verso tutti e senza distinzione politica, dato per morente varie volte, ma sempre "resuscitato" puntualmente, propone a questi di vendergli l'anima ("Se non credi all'anima vendimela.

Se non ce l'hai davvero, vorrà dire che ci ho rimesso i soldi, ma se ce l'hai diventa mia"). Il Nero tra mille dubbi, pensando anche che non sia giusto vendere qualcosa che non ha, l'anima appunto, si lascia però convincere. Ciò gli procurerà un serio problema psicologico che lo turberà per parecchio tempo, finché non interverrà Don Camillo stracciando il contratto regolarmente stipulato per la vendita dell'anima e bruciando le banconote ricevute dal Nero, (che voleva restituire al dottore) come sacrileghe.

Il ritorno di don Camillo è un film del 1953, diretto dal regista Julien Duvivier. Delle cinque pellicole che compongono la serie su Don Camillo e Peppone con Fernandel e Gino Cervi, è indubbiamente quella che mostra più elementi irreali, fantastici, non limitandosi al solo crocifisso parlante. Quando il dottor Spiletti viene trasportato, apparentemente moribondo, a Montenara, egli «trattiene il respiro per arrivare vivo da Don Camillo». L'elemento fiabesco è presente anche nell'affermazione enunciata dalla voce narrante (riportata in apertura alla presente scheda) di nascite e morti irrealmente "ritardate" finché il sacerdote preferito non sia ritornato. Si consideri infine l'episodio surreale della "vendita dell'anima" del Nero.

After his battles with the communist mayor Peppone, Don Camillo is sent in exile by his bishop in a remote village. Peppone thought he got the village in his hands. But when the municipality decide to build a dike against the periodic floods, the proprietor of the land refuses. War between the village clans is about to begin. Maybe only the strong hand of the priest could persuade the landlord to change his mind. Will Peppone passed over his pride and send for his enemy?

Recovery Volumes (.rev)
Recovery volumes or .rev files are special files which can be created by WinRAR/RAR and allow you to reconstruct missing and damaged files in a volume set. They can
only be used with multi-volume archives.
This feature may be useful for backups or, for example, when you post a multivolume archive to a newsgroup and some of the subscribers did not receive some files. Reposting recovery volumes instead of usual volumes may reduce the total number of files to repost.
Each recovery volume is able to reconstruct one missing RAR volume. For example, if you have 30 volumes and 3 recovery volumes, you are able to reconstruct any 3 missing volumes. If the number of .rev files is less than a number of missing volumes, reconstructing is impossible. The total number of usual and recovery volumes must not exceed 255 and the number of recovery volumes must be less than the number of RAR volumes.
WinRAR reconstructs missing and damaged volumes either when clicking on .rev file, or when using rc command or automatically, if it cannot locate the next volume and finds the required number of .rev files when unpacking.
You may use the "Recovery volumes" option in the Archive name and parameters dialog or a similar option also appears in the Protect archive command to create recovery volumes. In the command line mode you may do it with -rv switch or rv command.
Original copies of damaged volumes are renamed to *.bad before reconstruction. For example, volname.part03.rar will be renamed to volname.part03.rar.bad.
