Juan Miranda, un peone messicano, e i suoi figli sono in viaggio su di una diligenza che hanno appena assaltato quando si fermano a causa di una grande esplosione nella strada di fronte a loro. Dai fumi e dalle polveri, emerge uno strano motociclista: John Mallory, esperto dinamitardo, rivoluzionario dell'IRA e futuro “socio” di Miranda. Miranda vede subito in lui e nelle sue capacità con gli esplosivi, il mezzo perfetto per arrivare nei caveau della Banca di Mesa Verde, suo sogno da bambino (come dimostra il santino che nota nella diligenza John). Juan gli propone di lavorare insieme per colpire la banca, ma John rifiuta, dicendo che è venuto a lavorare per Aschenbach, il proprietario di una miniera nelle vicinanze. Per convincere John a venire con lui, Juan fa in modo di uccidere Aschenbach e un capitano immischiato in un losco giro con lui (facendo esplodere una chiesa sui due).

John lo illude di partecipare, ma alla prima occasione scappa. Juan e i suoi figli si recano a Mesa Verde. Sul treno incontrano un personaggio che verrà mostrato ufficialmente solo più avanti: il dottor Villega, il capo della piccola banda di rivoluzionari di Mesa Verde. Arrivato al paese Juan, senza darvi molta importanza, osserva i primi segni del profondo cambiamento che il paese ha subito: la banca fuori non risplende d’oro e da ogni parte ci sono piccoli manipoli di soldati che marciano o fucilano i rivoluzionari; ovunque i manifesti del governatore Jaime: “El Sr. Gobernador ama al pueblo. El pueblo ama al Sr. Gobernador” (Il sig. Governatore ama il popolo. Il popolo ama il sig. Governatore). Al bar di fronte alla banca reincontra John, che però lo aspettava. John sceglie di occuparsi della banca e vuole Juan come aiutante. Juan entusiasta, partecipa attivamente scoprendo, però, che la banca non è più quello che si aspettava, essendo essa divenuta una prigione temporanea piena di contadini, peones e qualche politico.
Dopo essere diventato un eroe ed essere stato acclamato dalla folla, Juan si sposta con tutti i rivoluzionari in un campo lontano dalla città dove si stanno preparando per attaccare un ponte, poiché passaggio utile per le truppe del dittatore Huerta. Qui avverrà un’importante discussione fra John Mallory e Juan Miranda sulle rivoluzioni. Nonostante l’ordine fosse di ritirarsi alle grotte, John decide di accamparsi vicino al ponte per infliggere una sconfitta, che riesce, al colonnello Gunterreza. Con lui rimane solo Juan. Dopo aver salvato Juan e scoperto che il dott. Villega aveva tradito (a causa delle torture) alcuni suoi compagni, John si rifugia con Miranda in un vagone di bestiame diretto verso l’America. Dopo alcuni scontri armati nella stazione, nel loro vagone entra anche il governatore Jaime. Juan per vendetta lo uccide e uscendo dal treno viene trascinato di nuovo dalla folla. Nel treno, ora in mano ai rivoluzionari Juan e John incontrano alcuni capi e Villega. Con loro pensano a come distruggere il treno di 1000 soldati e con Gunterreza che sta venendo loro incontro. John e Villega si offrono di preparare la locomotiva allo scontro e all’imminente salto per salvarsi la vita dell’impatto, Villega si pente di aver tradito e rimane sul treno. Ricongiuntosi con i suoi compagni, durante lo scontro a fuoco fra rivoluzionari e soldati superstiti, John viene colpito dal colonnello Gunterreza, il quale viene ucciso da Juan con una mitragliatrice. Juan assiste l'amico morente e decide di cercargli aiuto, ma poco dopo essersi allontanato si rende conto che John è vicino a una carrozza del treno in procinto di esplodere (o è John stesso a provocarne l'esplosione) e fa appena in tempo a voltarsi e a urlare il nome dell'amico (Jooohnnnyy), che vede saltare in aria insieme alla carrozza. English Synopsis
The setting is 1913 Mexico at the time of the Revolution. Juan Miranda (Rod Steiger), a Mexican outlaw leading a bandit family, meets John (Sean) Mallory (James Coburn), an early Irish Republican explosives expert on the run from the British. Noting his skill with explosives, Juan relentlessly tries to make him join a raid on the Mesa Verde national bank. John in the meantime has made contact with the revolutionaries and intends to use his dynamite in their service. The bank is hit as part of an orchestrated revolutionary attack on the army organized by Doctor Villega (Romolo Valli). Juan, interested only in the money, is shocked to find that the bank has no funds and instead is used by the army as a political prison. The revolutionaries are chased into the hills by an army detachment led by Colonel Günther Reza (Antoine Saint-John). John and Juan volunteer to stay behind with two machine guns and dynamite. Much of the army's detachment is destroyed while crossing a bridge which is machinegunned by them and blown to bits by John. Col. Reza who commands an armoured car, survives. After the battle, John and Juan find most of their comrades, including Juan's family and children, have been killed by the army in a cave. Engulfed with grief and rage, Juan goes out to fight the army singlehanded and is captured. John sneaks into camp where he witnesses executions of many of his fellow revolutionaries by firing squad. They had been informed on by Dr. Villega, who has been tortured by Col. Reza and his men. This evokes in John memories of a similar betrayal by Nolan (David Warbeck), his best friend, whom John kills for informing. Juan faces a firing squad of his own, but John arrives and blows up the squad and the wall with dynamite just in time. They escape on a motorcycle John is driving.

Recovery Volumes (.rev)
Recovery volumes or .rev files are special files which can be created by WinRAR/RAR and allow you to reconstruct missing and damaged files in a volume set. They can
only be used with multi-volume archives.
This feature may be useful for backups or, for example, when you post a multivolume archive to a newsgroup and some of the subscribers did not receive some files. Reposting recovery volumes instead of usual volumes may reduce the total number of files to repost.
Each recovery volume is able to reconstruct one missing RAR volume. For example, if you have 30 volumes and 3 recovery volumes, you are able to reconstruct any 3 missing volumes. If the number of .rev files is less than a number of missing volumes, reconstructing is impossible. The total number of usual and recovery volumes must not exceed 255 and the number of recovery volumes must be less than the number of RAR volumes.
WinRAR reconstructs missing and damaged volumes either when clicking on .rev file, or when using rc command or automatically, if it cannot locate the next volume and finds the required number of .rev files when unpacking.
You may use the "Recovery volumes" option in the Archive name and parameters dialog or a similar option also appears in the Protect archive command to create recovery volumes. In the command line mode you may do it with -rv switch or rv command.
Original copies of damaged volumes are renamed to *.bad before reconstruction. For example, volname.part03.rar will be renamed to volname.part03.rar.bad.
