A Parigi, nel corso dell'estate del 1942, la Francia è sotto l'occupazione tedesca e gli ebrei sono tenuti ad indossare la stella gialla. Nel quartiere della Butte Montmartre, due famiglie ebree vivono come gli altri abitanti del quartiere, fatta eccezione per gli ebrei che temono l'arrivo della Gestapo. A Parigi, i pareri sono divisi, alcuni vogliono proteggere gli ebrei nascondendoli, mentre altri come la fornaia, preferiscono insultarli.

Nella notte fra il 15 e il 16 luglio, il loro destino subisce un repentino cambiamento in seguito ad un accordo tra i nazisti e le autorità francesi per l'arresto e la deportazione di molti ebrei, accordo che porta al rastrellamento del Velodromo d'Inverno (Vélodrome d'Hiver). Il quartiere della Butte Montmartre non sfugge a questa sorte, anzi la famiglia di Joseph Weissmann, un bambino ebreo di dieci anni, ed i loro vicini vengono arrestati dopo aver provato a fuggire in diversi modi.

A seguito di questo rastrellamento vengono portati nel Vél d'Hiv, dove Joseph e Noah, il fratello minore del suo migliore amico, incontrano un'infermiera, Annette Monod, che farà tutto il possibile per aiutare loro e gli altri bambini ebrei. Nel velodromo le condizioni sono precarie e malsane: non hanno acqua, sono ammassati e costretti a fare i loro bisogni dove c'è spazio. Il cibo scarso deve essere diviso in modo che ognuno di loro abbia qualcosa da mangiare. Una mattina, mentre i detenuti sono assetati, i pompieri danno loro da bere. Essi accettano inoltre di "passare" le lettere a loro consegnate. Il colonnello Pierret dei vigili del fuoco di Parigi, usando la sua influenza (è il più alto in grado tra tutti i presenti nel Vel d'Hiv, Gendarmeria e vigili del fuoco) ne approfitta per prendere il comando del Vel d'Hiv mettendo a tacere la rabbia dei poliziotti con l'atteggiamento generoso ed eroico dei suoi uomini e di sé stesso.

French Synopsis
Ce film évoque l'arrestation par des policiers français, le 16 juillet 1942 et leur détention au Vélodrome d'Hiver, dans des conditions épouvantables, des treize mille cent cinquante-deux victimes de la rafle du Vél' d'Hiv', avant leur déportation, au bout de quelques jours, vers le camp de transit de Beaune-la-Rolande (Loiret) puis le camp d'extermination d'Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Pendant l'été 1942, la France est sous l'occupation allemande, les Juifs sont obligés de porter l'étoile jaune. Dans le quartier de la Butte Montmartre, deux familles juives vivent comme les autres habitants de ce quartier, à l'exception près qu'étant juifs, ils appréhendent l'arrivée de la Gestapo. À Paris, les avis sont partagés, certains veulent protéger les juifs en les cachant alors que d'autres comme la boulangère préfèrent les insulter, les injurier, et les rabaisser.

Dans la nuit du 15 au 16 juillet, leur destin bascule à la suite d'un accord entre les nazis et les autorités françaises sur l'arrestation et la déportation des nombreux juifs, accord qui débouche sur la rafle du Vélodrome d'Hiver. Le quartier de la Butte Montmartre n'y échappera pas, en effet la famille de Joseph Weissmann, un enfant juif d'une dizaine d'années, et leurs voisins sont arrêtés après avoir tenté par plusieurs moyens d'y échapper. Le père de Joseph aurait pu échapper à cette arrestation si Joseph ne l'avait pas malencontreusement dénoncé alors que sa mère s'était prétendue veuve auprès de miliciens.
À la suite de cette rafle, ils sont amenés dans le vélodrome d'Hiver, où Joseph et Noé, le petit frère de son meilleur ami, rencontrent une infirmière, Annette Monod, qui fera tout son possible pour les aider eux et les autres enfants juifs. Dans ce vélodrome, les conditions sont précaires et insalubres : ils n'ont pas d'eau, ils sont entassés et ils sont obligés de faire leurs besoins où il y a de la place. Les maigres vivres qu'ils ont emportés doivent être partagés pour que chacun d'entre eux puissent manger. Un petit matin alors que les prisonniers sont assoiffés, les pompiers font irruption et ouvrent les vannes pour donner à boire aux prisonniers. Ils acceptent aussi de « faire passer » les lettres qui leur sont confiées. Le Capitaine Pierret, des pompiers de Paris, se sert même de son grade (le plus élevé parmi tous les militaires présents au Vél' d'Hiv' : Gendarmerie Nationale et Pompiers de Paris) pour prendre le commandement du Vél' d'Hiv' afin d'imposer le silence aux gendarmes mécontents de l'attitude de ses hommes et lui.

1942. Joseph is eleven. And this June morning, he must go to school, a yellow star sewn on his chest. He receives the support of a goods dealer. The mockery of a baker. Between kindness and contempt, Jo, his Jewish friends, their families, learn of life in an occupied Paris, on the Butte Montmartre, where they've taken shelter. At least that's what they think, until that morning on July 16th 1942, when their fragile happiness is toppled over. From the Vélodrome D'Hiver, where 13 000 Jews are crammed, to the camp of Beaune-La-Rolande, from Vichy to the terrace of the Berghof, La Rafle follows the real destinies of the victims and the executioners. Of those who orchestrated it all. Of those who trusted them. Of those who fled. Of those who opposed them. Every character in this film has existed. Every event, even the most extreme, transpired on that summer of 1942.

Recovery Volumes (.rev)
Recovery volumes or .rev files are special files which can be created by WinRAR/RAR and allow you to reconstruct missing and damaged files in a volume set. They can
only be used with multi-volume archives.
This feature may be useful for backups or, for example, when you post a multivolume archive to a newsgroup and some of the subscribers did not receive some files. Reposting recovery volumes instead of usual volumes may reduce the total number of files to repost.
Each recovery volume is able to reconstruct one missing RAR volume. For example, if you have 30 volumes and 3 recovery volumes, you are able to reconstruct any 3 missing volumes. If the number of .rev files is less than a number of missing volumes, reconstructing is impossible. The total number of usual and recovery volumes must not exceed 255 and the number of recovery volumes must be less than the number of RAR volumes.
WinRAR reconstructs missing and damaged volumes either when clicking on .rev file, or when using rc command or automatically, if it cannot locate the next volume and finds the required number of .rev files when unpacking.
You may use the "Recovery volumes" option in the Archive name and parameters dialog or a similar option also appears in the Protect archive command to create recovery volumes. In the command line mode you may do it with -rv switch or rv command.
Original copies of damaged volumes are renamed to *.bad before reconstruction. For example, volname.part03.rar will be renamed to volname.part03.rar.bad.
