Camilla si innamora di Matteo la prima volta che lo vede, in controluce, mentre si chiudono le porte dell'ambulanza che l'ha soccorsa dopo un incidente in motorino. Matteo, però, pensa ancora a Giovanna, l'ex fidanzata che si è scoperta gay. Insieme, Matteo e Camilla lavorano in un negozio di modernariato e abiti vintage, il Twinkled. Con loro ci sono Stefano, il proprietario, in crisi con la moglie e con i debiti da saldare, e Franki, che scrive lettere d'amore bellissime per un uomo impossibile, perché così se non risponde “fa meno male”.
La voce narrante del film è affidata a Diane Fleri, l'interprete di Camilla, ma è Matteo il protagonista della storia, il testimone letterale (a partire da un certo punto) dell'energia che può mettere in moto il sentimento amoroso quando si fa strada, spinto dal Ponentino romano che riscrive le esistenze di chi vi si abbandona e di chi resiste, perdendo per sempre il giro in giostra.
