The Bow (Hwal) - Ki-Duk Kim - 2005

An old man who is in his 60s, lives with a 16 year old girl in the boat on the sea. He plans to marry her when she turns 17 while isolating her from the outside world. However people come to the boat for fishing, and they flirt with the girl. As she starts having interest on city men, the obsession of the old man starts getting serious.


Un viejo pescador vive en medio del mar con una muchacha a la que recogió cuando era niña. El viejo pescador espera que ella cumpla 17 años para desposarla. Mientras tanto, prepara la dote, la protege contra los hombres que vienen a pescar a su barco e intentan propasarse con ella. Su única forma de protegerla es disparando con el arco, un arco que también le sirve para adivinar el futuro y como instrumento musical. Un buen día, un grupo de pescadores desconocidos sube al barco, entre los que se encuentra un joven universitario. El chico y la muchacha se enamoran. El viejo pescador sabe que su sueño ha llegado a su fin…
