Seit er bei einem Gleitschirmflug abgestürzt ist, ist Philippe (François Cluzet) vom Kopf abwärts gelähmt. Seinen Lebensmut hat er dennoch nicht verloren, denn Philippe ist reich. Im Hof verstaubt ein Maserati und für ein Bild mit Farbklecksen gibt er schon mal gut und gerne 14.000 Euro aus. Gerade als er einen neuen Pfleger sucht, steht der gerade aus dem Gefängnis entlassene Driss (Omar Sy) in seinem Wohnzimmer und möchte eigentlich nur einen Stempel dafür haben, dass er sich vorgestellt hat, um weiterhin Arbeitslosenunterstützung zu erhalten. Frei dem Motto Gegensätze ziehen sich an, stellt Philippe Driss ein, denn dessen unbekümmerte, lockere Art fasziniert Philippe. Anfangs abgeneigt, überhaupt einer festen Beschäftigung nachzugehen, krempelt Driss nach und nach das Leben des Adeligen um und zwischen beiden entwickelt sich eine ungewöhnliche Freundschaft.
