It happened four years ago, around the corner from her house, when an attacker, who appeared to be a young teenager, tried to rape her but was scared off when a group of adults ran towards them.
“When it happens to you, the world becomes a bit more sinister,” says Zara. “It left me in shock, with so many questions. What made a schoolboy think he could attack me and where did he learn that?”
With a recent Ofsted report confirming that rape culture is raging in British schools, Zara speaks to young women and girls about their horrific experiences.
There is a particularly emotional interview when Zara meets the friends and family of 12-year-old Semina Halliwell, who alleged she was raped by a boy from her school, then took her own life in June 2021.
