It's winter in a suburb. A housewife is brutally raped. A young woman becomes a victim of attempted rape. The Police tighten noose on Anders, a young road worker who was seen on the site in both cases. The two women think they recognize him in the lineup, and police investigators use all their strength to solve the case. Anders is a common and simple individual. He could be any youth. The meeting with the ongoing investigation and the solid judiciary, forces him out of a seemingly monotonous, habitual life and forces him to react and think.

A meticulous look at the legal peeling of a human being in the name of justice, the cold, mundane manner in which egregious violence is processed and dissected by the state, and the human fallibility that makes our systems' best intentions both inadequate and unjust, this film is a procedural document, a half-clinical exploration.
Sensibly, the titular crime is not shown, and the worst of it is not really described; instead, the post-traumatic is the focus, and not on the victims. We get glimpses of them, and their reactions are interjected. But they suffer as much at the hands of process and procedure as the accused, being unserved by the methods used to catch the man who hurt them.
The documentary feel of this is developed largely by a quiet, careful camera watching our principal character, even as it gets intimately close. It almost always feels like an observer and not a storyteller, except in the rare moments it takes on life or stumbles (or perhaps not so unintentional) into something with deep perspective that gives even the dullest facades a semblance of emotional weight, suggesting the grinding, oppressive might of bureaucracy or rote (or both).
