The Sex Education Show - Season 1 (2008)

The first six-part series of The Sex Education Show tackled the nation's sexual ignorance and reticence by capturing a wide range of different personal experiences of sexual issues and problems, as well as offering candid advice. The series uncovered the secret sex lives of teenagers as they talk about pornography, abortion, sexual disease, homosexuality, peer pressure and pregnancy. Together with the results of the biggest ever television survey of teenage attitudes to sex, it revealed a striking picture of the real state of sex education in Britain today.

Episode 1
After testing a group of teenagers on their perceptions of what's normal, it appears that women have fake breasts and the average man is hung like a horse…Prepare to see a few shocked faces as some brave parents discover what their teenagers have access to via the internet.




Episode 2
The average total number of sexual partners in the UK is 16 for men and 10 for women. Anna Richardson hasn't really thought about her previous partners since getting together with her long-term partner almost 13 years ago. She decides to confront her past and count up her conquests once and for all.




Episode 3
Over 2 million British men suffer from erectile dysfunction. Those who don’t seek help could be jeopardising not only their sex lives, but their psychological welfare too. Anna and Dr Radha Modgil show the boys from Long Ashton F.C. how some simple pelvic floor exercises can prevent and even cure erectile dysfunction.




Episode 4
37 year-old presenter Anna Richardson came off the contraceptive pill 2 years ago. Despite her relatively clean-living lifestyle, she and her partner haven't yet conceived a baby. Anna visits fertility and pregnancy guru Zita West for advice and a fertility test.




Episode 5
21 underage schoolgirls get pregnant in the UK every day. Last year, in England alone, 2,120 babies were taken from new mothers when the authorities believed they weren’t coping with parenting. Anna Richardson gives a class of teenagers a practical lesson in one of the toughest jobs of parenthood: changing filthy nappies.




Episode 6
The average British couple has sex once or twice a week. 62% of women and 66% of men would like to have sex more often. To enjoy lots of good sex, it helps if you have a healthy sex drive or libido. Anna meets clinical psychologist Dr Cecilia d’Felice to find out more.
