    Talking Head (1992) is a live action film written and directed by Mamoru Oshii. Its a surreal meta-film mystery involving the production of an anime called Talking Head. In legendary director Mamoru Oshii's TALKING HEADS, the director of the most-talked about anime movie of the year disappears, and the studio desperately searches for his replacement.     The film has many references to the anime industry with characters being named after animators such as Yasuo Otsuka and Ichiro Itano, designer Yutaka Izubuchi, writer Kazunori Ito, and composer Kenji Kawai. The director of the film with in the film is named Rei Maruwa, which was a pseudonym for Oshii on several of his projects.

    Talking Head features a short anime segment by famous character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto.

    The final film in the Mamoru Oshii Cinema Trilogy, Talking Head is only sequel to the two previous films:
    The Red Spectacles (1987) and Stray Dog: Kerberos Panzer Cops (1991)
