Xu Sanduo is alone in old barracks, and bored to death. He spends his time cleaning, running, rolling over bar, and having pretend meetings. He cannot make up his mind, but this time he has to choose between promotion and keeping the same dull duty, or leaving the Army and going back home.
Sandou's dad come for a visit, trying to pursue Sanduo into leaving the Army, but Sanduo is reluctant to do so, and even more assured that he wants to stay. He asked Wu Liuyi for a help, but Wu is not willing to defend Sanduo, rather to make him defend for himself. But Sanduo's desperate face changes Wu's mind.
