This 1981 Russian TV film adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles, features a strong cast, with Vasili Livanov as Holmes and Vitali Solomin as Watson, as well as actor/director Nikita Mikhalkov as Sir Henry Baskerville and the Russian movie legend Oleg Yankovsky as the villain Stapleton.
Henry Baskerville learns that his wealthy uncle has died and, as his only heir, makes his way to London to collect his inheritance. However, his uncle's death appears suspicious and seems to relate to an old family curse concerning a demonic dog that dates back two centuries. Detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend, Doctor Watson, investigate and attempt to reveal the truth before Henry finds himself in mortal danger.
