The young and fragile Lia suffers from a deep depression. She is consumed by a sense of guilt due to an abortion. Her relationship with her boyfriend Viktor is getting worse and worse and in the last desperate attempt to cure herself, Lia goes to visit her old aunt Agata in her creepy 18th century villa.

Severely depressed and after a suicide attempt, on the advice of her psychiatrist, Lia decides to leave Viktor and go to an aunt's villa in a remote village in the Veneto region. Aunt Agatha is the healer of the village, since ever an enthusiast of psychomagic and of alternative medicine. She learned to use these methods of treatment from her deceased Chilean husband Fernando (Jodorowsky), who still appears in dream to advise her.
Upon her arrival, however, the old house seems to be filled with presences and beings from the popular folklore: among these, the Anguana, a magical creature who kidnaps children, and the little Salbanei, two enigmatic kids who speak through nursery rhymes and popular rigmaroles.
Agata tries to cure Lia with an act of psychomagic, but Viktor suddenly shows up, and something risks to go wrong…
The flm is freely adapted from "The Dance of Reality" by Alejandro Jodorowsky.
It is a bizarre and hardly classifiable work, made of enigmatic moments, suspensions and distortions of the images that help to create an estrangement, perhaps too self-gratifying in the long run.
Once past the awkwardness of an approach hovering on the improbable - think particularly of the first part, with the sexual assaults of the gloomy Viktor - the viewer can take the film for what it really is: a tribute, even deferential, to the art and the thought of Jodorowsky.
