The first italian sound film ever produced, though not the first to be distributed: it was preceded by La canzone dell'amore (1930) in theaters, because the latter was thought to be more commercial.
Resurrectio is an interesting melodrama, in which a conductor plans to kill his unfaithful lover in a jealous fit, but is saved by the love of a pure, young girl. Like many early talkies, Resurrectio does feel a bit transitional, but is better than most. Though it is mainly visual, and dialogue is sparse, the camera work is fluid, and the acting is natural for its time. Visually it is a stunning piece, and the story remains entertaining even today.
