Join Michael Portillo as he celebrates Andalucía, one of Spain's most interesting and diverse regions. It's an area Michael knows and loves, as well as one where he lives for part of his year. Now, he takes us to six of his favourite spots and reveals what makes them so special.
Each episode focuses on a different main location where Michael meets local people who have a particular connection to that place and who introduce Michael to something they're passionate about, whether it's cooking and eating a local delicacy, practising arts and crafts, or delving into Andalucía's rich history.
Granada
Michael Portillo travels the Spanish region of Andaluciia meeting local people who share their passions. In Granada, he meets a food writer and tries his hand at a potter's wheel.
Malaga and Ronda
In the coastal city of Malaga, Michael enjoys one of Spain's biggest street parties: the Feria. He also visits the incredible hilltop town of Ronda, and stops off at a vineyard.
Cordoba and Costa del Sol
Michael visits the ancient city of Cordoba and the Costa del Sol, savouring the mixture of Roman, Muslim, and Christian civilisations and meeting an olive oil farmer.
Huelva and Aracena
Michael visits the busiest fishing port in Andalucia, stops off in Huelva city to follow in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus and visits the stunning Gruta de las Maravillas caves.
Cadiz and Jerez
Michael takes part in an exercise to hoist the mainsail of an 80-metre long tall ship, and learns why world sherry capital Jerez is also the home of the flamenco guitar.
Sevilla and Carmona
Michael finishes his Andalucian odyssey, taking us to two places he knows best - the capital city of Sevilla, and Carmona where he lives - taking in the Metropol Parasol and tapas.
