First of all; the movie `Plains Trains and Automobiles' is definitely a must see for all ages. It stars the two hilarious actors: Steve Martin, and John Candy. In the beginning of this movie we see Steve Martin's character walking along the busy streets of New York trying desperately to find an available taxicab. He finally spots one, just as another man spots that exact cab. We see the two men give each other little glares from across the two sides of the road, as they begin a hysterical race to the empty cab. The two men tie on their race to the cab, and Martin bargains with his apponent for $50.00 is he can have the cab. His good skills earn him his bargain, and Martin in relieved. Well temporarily relieved. We then see Candy's character has jumped in the cab, along with his luggage, and Marin is left once again with no cab. He chases after the Taxi, but his efforts lead him nowhere but the middle of the street with a thousand honking horns. And this is exactly the typical Steve Martin kind of film.
After many attempts to get a flight home due to stormy weather, Martin is stuck at the theatre. As he is sitting at the flight gate, he looks up, and to no surprise he sees the man that stole his Taxi (John Candy). Realizing that there is not way they are going to get a flight that night, the two men decide to get a hotel. Well, turns out that there is only one vacant room at the only vacant hotel, and the best thing of all… there's only one bed! Martin discovers the intolerable habits of Candy, such as messiness, and the fact that he is a cigarette smoker. After a little harsh bickering, the two decide to finish the night out in the hotel together. Through many unfortunates, the two men are forced to remain together for the duration of the film, as they journey on their way back home for thanksgiving. They both want desperately to get home to their wives, whom they both so passionately love. Throughout their journey, they have so much inconveniences and things that go wrong. They get home safely, but that is reveled about Candy and his wife is a real shocking, and changes the movie so significantly.
This movie was a great thanksgiving flick. It will warm your heart and make you ever so thankful for those ones you love. Definetly recommended for all people. Not only at thanksgiving; but also on all occasions!
