This simple, experimental animation tells the story of a complex relationship between a sensitive cat and an ambitious mouse. The director David O’Reilly uses digital aesthetics in an authentic way, and manages to bring up a nostalgic vibe in a new-age universe apparently lacking emotion. It was rightfully granted the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival (2009) and the big prize at the Chicago International Film Festival.
"A troubled relationship between a Cat and Mouse set in the distant Future."
Originally released as an episodal "internet turbodrama", the finished short film eventually gained notority at several film festivals, winning for example the Golden Bear for best short film at the 2009 Berlinale.
In that same year David O'Reilly offered the film on dvd through his website at a limited run of 100 copies. The dvd contains a commentary track for the film, other behind-the-scenes materials and some of his earlier short films, like Octocat Adventures, the festival version of RGB XYZ and the Felikxsz Digs a Hole cartoon (a film-within the film in Please Say Something).
There are also a couple of easter eggs (among which a short film of animals getting shot in the head - as of yet I've only seen him showing that one during lectures). I haven't found out if these easter eggs are accessible through the dvd-menu, but digging through the VOB files will work.
