    With nearly two kilos of hashish blocks strapped to his torso, on October 6, 1970, the young American college student, Billy Hayes, is arrested and sentenced to four years of imprisonment for trying to smuggle drugs. As the new inmate struggles to finish up his time enduring unspeakable torments and abuse within the hellish purgatory, he is befriended by a few fellow convicts, however, with Ankara in grave need of a scapegoat, Hayes' sentence is overturned to another thirty years of incarceration.
