A moose hunt is the pretext for this film. Nine men and their Indian guide withdraw to the wilderness to spend one week together away from their daily routines. The film charts the social dynamics of this diverse group, how they relate to one another–alternately revealing and disguising their feelings. A rich mix of personalities lends relief to the human topography in this documentary about an annual event that brings out the best and worst in men. The filmmaker chose not to embellish what the camera recorded.

Documentaire sur la traditionnelle chasse à l'orignal, prétexte à fouiller l'âme québécoise. Dans une cabane de Maniwaki, des citadins opèrent leur annuel retour à la nature. Plaisir de se mesurer aux éléments, et de connaître ses limites! Expérience de la mort pour exorciser sa propre mort et renouer avec la chaîne entière de la vie! Mais aussi, esprit de panache, de bravache et de vantardise, et transposition de moeurs sauvages de la meute au sein du groupe d'amis, où on a tôt fait de repérer un souffre-douleur. Une magistrale partie de chasse, une mythologie bien de chez-nous.
