This three-part documentary series looks at how Moshe Dayan, Yitzhak Rabin and Ariel Sharon shaped the destiny of Israel, and indeed the entire Middle East. Israel's Generals is a comparison between the three leaders and explores why Israel, proud to be a democracy, continue to choose generals as its political leaders? The program also asks whether there will ever be peace as long as fighters lead the way.
Part two traces Yitzhak Rabin's career from a brigade commander at 25, to his elevation to chief of staff in 1964 and his rise to "superstardom". Through interviews with Rabin's sister and daughter, as well as close political advisers, friends and insiders, including Shimon Peres and former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, this episode traces his shift from general to self-proclaimed "soldier in the army of peace".
