Back in his village, former war prisoner Bruno Baldi is dead set on avenging his brother who has been shot by a German firing squad after being given away by a villager. But nobody wants to give him the name of the culprit. At long last, Antonio, a joiner, reveals the informer but this comes at a cost.

Un reduce di guerra, tornato al villaggio natio, vuole vendicare il fratello, fucilato dai tedeschi su denuncia di un compaesano, ma nessuno vuole fargli il nome del colpevole. Il sacrificio di un "santone" che si fa uccidere da lui al posto del vero colpevole lo fa ravvedere. Unico film dello scrittore toscano (1898-1957), ne esibisce i vizi più che le qualità: effettistico, compiaciuto, provocatorio anche se qua e là lampeggiante di talento. Bella fotografia di G.
