Three are dead. He is Number Four. D.J. On far Lorien, the population faced extinction at the hands of the Mogadorians. But in a last ditch effort to save their species nine children were sent to a distant planet; these kids would grow to possess the super powers their parents did, and they would use these powers to stop the Mogadorians from their relentless march of genocide. Over the years, One and Two have died. As we watch, number Three is pursued through the jungles of Kenya. Despite his guardian's best efforts, he dies as well.

I Am Number Four (2011)

This is felt by Number Four (Alex Pettyfer). And he knows they will be coming for him next.
His guardian, Henri (Timothy Olyphant) moves him to Paradise, Ohio. There, he wants John Smith (#4) to stay off the radar. But it is hard to run and hide, when every fiber of your being aches to belong. There are the standard problems of high school; the pack of jock bullies, led by Mark James(Jake Able), Sam (Callan McAuliffe) their favorite victim, and a girl, Sarah (Dianna Agron). She is a photographer, very special, and used to date Mark. Of course she did. Now, if that was not hard enough, add a pack of gill faced extraterrestrial hit men, the Mogadorians, led by a commander (Kevin Durand) determined to kill the Nine, in numerical order.

I Am Number Four (2011)

Like Harry Potter, and Percy Jackson, this is another franchise of extra special teens designed to thrill, delight, and separate teen audiences from ticket money. And it aims directly for the target demographic; there are lots of pretty boys and girls (Pettyfer and Agron, Palmer and Abel), there is a strong buddy element John/Sam, a cool kick-@$$ father figure (Olyphant) and a cute dog that is a shape shifting guardian (Bernie). It has the mysterious hot stranger (Teresa Palmer) and local earth authorities to elude, like Sheriff James (Jeff Hochendoner). It has martial arts, ray guns, and explosions (how could it not with Michael Bay as producer?) Best of all, it has super powers, which are handy for more than just a flashlight substitute.

Yes, there are some problems; if their parents had these super powers, how did the Mogadorians take them out? Why do Loreinians and Mogadorians turn to dust when they die? And how does Bernie change mass from an anole, to a beagle, to a giant anklyosauroid mastiff? If they have the computer savvy to wipe his face from the internet, why aren't they rich? Why not hire mercenaries to take out the Mogadorians? Why is a twenty year old actor playing a fifteen year old boy? Still, that is not the way these things go. And apparently, Hollywood has plans; they bought the movie rights before the book, I am Number Four, was released. There are five more books in the series. And judging from what I have seen, I think there will be five more movies to go along with it.
