Collection of six short films and three intervalometer (time lapse) experiments from cult director David Lynch. Lynch launched a subscription-only website in 2002 on which he posted various experimental projects. The shorts films featured are 'The Darkened Room', which stars Etsuko Shikata, Jordan Ladd and Cerina Vincent, 'Boat', which stars Lynch himself, 'Lamp', which shows Lynch sculpting a lamp stand, 'Out Yonder - Neighbor Boy', which stars Lynch and his son Austin and 'Industrial Soundscape' and 'Bug Crawls' in which the director uses sound and animation. These films have previously only been available via the website.
IMDB 7.0/10
"The Darkened Room" stars Etsuko Shikata, Jordan Ladd (Inland Empire; Cabin Fever), Cerina Vincent (Cabin Fever) in a typically Lynchian piece that begins with a Japanese woman talking about bananas before cutting to a creepy situation involving a crying woman sitting on a sofa in a stark apartment, while "Boat" features Lynch himself taking a bizarre boat journey "into the night" accompanied by the poetic narration of his wife Emily Sofle (Inland Empire).
"Lamp" documents Lynch working in his home studio sculpting a lamp stand from a plaster-like substance and provides a fascinating insight into the rarely seen creative process and working methods of David Lynch the artist as opposed to David Lynch the filmmaker.
Revealing the director's funny side, the quirky comedy "Out Yonder – Neighbor Boy" stars Lynch and his son, Austin Jack Lynch, as a pair of hillbilly types with a strange way of talking who encounter a giant "neighbor boy" in search of milk.
The animated "Industrial Soundscape" and "Bug Crawls" visit familiar Lynchian territories as the director experiments with sound and animation that recalls the brooding atmospherics of "Eraserhead".
