The Sex Inspectors is a late night UK TV show that focuses on sex therapy for couples facing difficulties with their relationship. The show, presented by Tracey Cox and Michael Alvear, aids couples by offering ways to spice up their relationships and sex lives. The show airs at 11PM on Channel 4, and each series usually consists of 3 to 4 episodes, with the series finale being a special episode devoted to revisiting the couples featured on the series. On the first visit, CCTVs are installed throughout the house, allowing the Tracey and Micheal to monitor the couples' lives. After a few days of monitoring, the presenters then go back to the couples to tell them what they are doing wrong and what needs to be improved.

Series Summary
Each weekly show features a different couple with an everyday sexual problem. A new baby may have put sex on the backburner, mismatched libidos and performance anxiety could be causing tensions, or one partner may have difficulty achieving a climax. They all have one thing in common: the need for sound, no-nonsense advice to get their love life back on track.

This post-watershed series aims to take a candid, constructive approach to common sexual difficulties and comes packed with practical information to help each couple, as well as viewers at home, to become braver and better in bed.

Episode 1:
When Mark and Bina met, it was an instant and powerful attraction; but less than a year later they are experiencing significant sexual problems. Bina admits to wanting sex constantly and Mark finds it increasingly difficult to fulfil her needs.

This impossible situation is generating major insecurities for both of them. Mark worries she’ll leave him for a man who can satisfy her more fully, while Bina is anxious that his lack of desire means he doesn’t love her anymore and will leave her. Mark is also putting huge pressure on himself to be a better lover, fretting over his staying power as well as his libido.

The escalating tension and insecurity in their relationship cues a call from Sex Inspectors Tracey and Michael, who give them a whole host of tips and techniques to test-drive. So will Mark and Bina find a happy medium before their anxieties, and their libidos, get the better of them?

Episode 2:
Pete and Sally have been married less than a year and already their sex life has become a ‘once in a blue moon’ event, which both admit has become routine and unimaginative. The situation has not been helped by the arrival of their baby daughter, who still sleeps in their bedroom. Pete’s libido has taken a nose-dive and he worries that if things don’t change, Sally will look elsewhere for what she’s not getting at home. Meanwhile, Sally is concerned that the situation is creating barriers between them.

Time for Sex Inspectors Tracey and Michael to step in, to work on the domestic dynamics and help Pete and Sally recapture the uninhibited lovemaking they used to enjoy. Will they lose faith and give up or will they stay committed to their progress?

Episode 3:
Since the birth of their daughter, sex has ground to a virtual standstill for Tracey and husband-to-be John. Tracey admits that she is so wrapped up in the new experience of motherhood that she rarely initiates sex. Picking up on his partner’s disinterest, John’s confidence has taken a nose-dive and he feels awkward instigating sex.

The situation is creating distance between them, leading to some much-needed mediation from Sex Inspectors Tracey Cox and Michael Alvear. To rebuild the intimacy in their relationship, the duo work on their communication skills, imparting tailor-made tips and techniques. But how will their advice work in practice?

Episode 4:
The Sex Inspectors meet Andrew and Nicky, who have been together for four years and have just had their first baby. Their sex life is in the doldrums, but it isn’t newfound parenthood that’s causing the problems; their sexual spark had faded well before. Andrew has lost his sexual confidence and, despite the new baby, Nicky’s libido is higher than his. The mounting tension is starting to affect the rest of their relationship, but even talking about it is a major struggle.

Time for some much-needed mediation from Tracey and Michael, who prescribe a back-to-basics approach that works on the couple’s communication skills and helps put them in touch with each other’s erogenous zones. But can Andrew and Nicky make it through the tension and teething problems to rediscover their sexual spark?

Episode 5:
Committed couple Jamie and Charlotte are trying to recover from the fall-out following Charlotte’s revelation that she has never been able to climax during intercourse. Their sex life has been suffering as they are both putting themselves under huge pressure to perform, and sex has turned into a real challenge for both of them.

Can Tracey and Michael put them back on track – and help Charlotte achieve that elusive orgasm?

Episode 6:
Rea and Gary have been together for two years and have been experimenting to the extent that they are bored – all the romance and intimacy has gone out of sex. Gary is worried about his lack of staying power, while the more experienced Rea often intimidates him.

Sex Inspectors Tracey and Michael take them ‘back to basics’ to regain their emotional connection. They ban the couple from relying on their usual props and instead suggest simple techniques to help them bond again. Can Gary and Rea revitalise their relationship, or will the no-frills sex push them further apart

Episode 7:
Another couple hope to revamp their struggling sex lives. Rea and Gary feel they have lost their intimacy and romance, so the team suggest a ‘back to basics’ approach.

Tracey and fiance John are new parents but, amid the joy of motherhood, Tracey’s interest in sex has waned. Mark and Bina felt an instant attraction but now have differing sexual expectations.
