Big City Fantasy is the tale of a young immigrant's wandering through New York City in search of her cousin, who, unbeknownst to him, has been entrusted with her well-being upon her arrival. Naturally, her letter of introduction, containing her cousin's name and address, was lost overboard on her voyage from the old country, leaving her in her present predicament. As a result, we're treated to a fascinating series of scenes involving our heroine's travels through the myriad neighborhoods of New York, many incorporating real-life footage from the period. All of this takes place to the music of Phil Spitalny's Orchestra, which alternately plays either a highly stylized version of Hungarian Rhapsody, or tunes representing the neighborhoods our young immigrant happens to be wandering through (see link to song list). Another worthy entry in the Vitaphone short musical collection, Big City Fantasy is a treat for any fan of the genre.
