One hulking brute of a woman smashes Ollie's bass fiddle over his head, and throws Stan's concertina into the street, where it is promptly smashed by a truck. The Boys' fortunes seem to change when they find a wallet stuffed with money. They offer to buy lunch for a friendly cop, only to discover after the meal that it is the cop's wallet they have found. An angry waiter throws the boys out into the cold and snow, depositing Stan into a half-frozen rainbarrel. Ollie frantically searches for his chum, who emerges from the barrel grotesquely bloated, having drunk its contents. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stan Laurel und Oliver Hardy versuchen sich als Straßenmusikanten. Schlimm wird es für sie im Winter 1929, als es ganz besonders kalt wird. Nachdem die beiden Musiker von einer Stelle nach der anderen verscheucht, beschimpft und sogar verprügelt wurden, finden sie im Schnee ein Portemonnaie. Der böse Dieb, der es ihnen gleich darauf wieder stehlen möchte, wird in letzter Minute von einem Polizisten verscheucht. Aus Dankbarkeit wollen Stan und Ollie den Polizisten mit dem gefundenen Geld zum Essen einladen. Die drei nehmen in einem vornehmen Restaurant ein vorzügliches Mahl zu sich - doch da stellt sich heraus, dass die gefundene Brieftasche dem Polizisten gehört. Der Polizist überlässt Stan und Ollie dem wütenden Kellner, der Ollie niederschlägt und Stan in ein Fass mit Eiswasser schmeißt. Stan kann dem sicheren Tod nur entkommen, indem er das Wasser im Fass bis auf den letzten Tropfen leer trinkt. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
