World War One At Home reveals how the momentous events of the war affected life on the Home Front. Around 1400 stories will be broadcast throughout 2014 and beyond, on BBC local and national radio and television, and online.
    Part 1. The Zeppelin Terror
Ben Robinson takes to the skies to trace the first air attacks on Britain by the Zeppelin. For the first time civilians were the targets. From Norfolk to London, Ben investigates how the Germany's aim, to intimidate the population and bring swift victory, failed. The story is brought to life by Ben's aerial perspective, archive film, expert analysis, specially-commissioned 3D graphics, and first person accounts, including that of a 102-year-old lady who still remembers the attacks. In his helicopter, Ben flies the route the Zeppelin took for one of its most devastating raids, giving a fresh view of the events of 100 years ago.

    Part 2. The Killing Factories
Kate Adie tells the story of the women and men who produced the millions of shells needed for trench warfare. They worked at factories susceptible to explosions from a single spark, with catastrophic consequences. Included is unique film footage found in a garden shed and unseen for a century.

    Part 3. The Trawlermen
The story of the Grimsby trawler captain who left 16 Germans to die at sea during the First World War. The men were Zeppelin aircrew who had crash landed in the ocean as they returned from a bombing raid in Britain. Skipper William Martin came across them while fishing on his trawler the King Stephen, but did not rescue them - saying he feared they would overpower his crew.

Part 4. When the Whistle Blew
Rugby World Cup winner Josh Lewsey tells the story of the ultimate sacrifice made by rugby and football players during the First World War and how they shaped the game as we know it today. To commemorate those who lost their lives, he dons his boots one more time to play a centenary rugby match.

    Part 5. Despatches from Tyneside
A community project in Tynemouth has been mapping dates and addresses of all those who fell in the borough during WW1. The Tynemouth WW1 commemoration project is collecting photos and details of the lives of 1,700 men who died both on home ground and abroad.

    Part 6. The Safe House
A century after the start of the First World War, Louise Minchin reveals the story of Dunham Massey stately home in Cheshire which was turned into a military hospital for injured Tommies.

    Part 7. Royal Victoria Hospital
Netley on the south coast of Hampshire was the location for the largest military hospital ever built. More than 100,000 soldiers were treated at the hospital during both the First and Second World Wars. Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, was said to have hated the building's design. She thought the design was "old fashioned" and thought the long corridors could lead to the spread of disease.

Part 8. The Spies Who Loved Folkestone
Anthony Horowitz learns how Folkestone became a hotbed of espionage and discovers the men, women and children who risked their lives operating as spooks during the First World War.

Part 9. Whose Side Are You On
Historian Professor Jean Seaton uncovers the story of industrial conflict in Devon during World War One.

    Part 10. The Equine Army
Saul David follows the story of hundreds of thousands of animals prepared in the West country for the front line. From cavalry horses to mules, he rediscovers the lost camps set up to train the animals, what life in them was like and the changes they made to society as a whole.

    Part 11. Cadburys at War
Brothers Laurence and Egbert Cadbury saw plenty of action during the First World War, but only one of them was a fighter. Former world champion boxer Richie Woodhall investigates the untold story of the chocolate king's sons, a tale full of conflict and conscience.
