It’s a beautiful shot that, despite a faint male voice in the off, sets the tone for themes of loneliness and emptiness but also will and resilience.
“Employees form a group. Overnight you become an individual,” a Japanese retiree tells us.
Jacqueline Zünd, following three men in the US, in Europe and in Japan through a life-changing situation, proves herself to be a quiet but detailed observer, letting images rest, letting them breathe and wash at our shores.
