Hidden Shoal Recordings has announced the digital pre-release of the eagerly awaited fourth album by US ambient artist Slow Dancing Society.
Following on from the ebullient warmth of the critically acclaimed Priest Lake Circa ’88, Under The Sodium Lights is Drew Sullivan’s latest ambient epic. The album feels like a distillation of the three stunning releases that preceded it – and as such is Sullivan’s finest work to date. The delicate interplay between focused melodic details and blurred washes of sound draws the listener into a hypnotic state, where the waking world and the world of sleep cascade in and out of balance.
Pioneering neo classical / electronica band Digitonal were founded by Andy Dobson, clarinetist, soundtrack composer, DJ and keyboard guru and his partner, celebrated violinist Samy Bishai. Drawing comparisons to Orbital, Philip Glass and Steve Reich, their tenth year sees the release of a newly mastered and reworked retrospective album, Be Still My Bleeping Heart.

There's been at least one remix album for each 'original' Tosca album to date. In the case of No Hassle, this might make even more sense than before, since No Hassle was an introspective work. Pony brings the more club-oriented face of Tosca to the forefront. To put it simply, Tosca, the project of the two Austrians, Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber, combines bass-heavy downbeat music with abstract soundscapes of found sounds and material from numerous studio sessions. When these recordings are handed over to remixers, everything changes; texture, dynamics, structures. Still, Pony is a true Tosca album; the sound signature of Dorfmeister and Huber cannot be superseded by a remix. G Stone.

The three members of Brighton drum 'n' bass band The Qemists started out as the rhythm section of a hard rock band, andstarted to gain an interest in DnB in the late 90s. This has heavily informed their sound and because of this they are often compared to DnB/rock crossover band Pendulum, who alsoperform as a live band. 'Spirit In The System' is the The Qemists' first full-length album and includes the singles 'Hurt Less' and 'Your Revolution'.

Steve Spacek needs little introduction to the future soul/broken beat cognoscenti. To everyone else, he's one of the UK's most unique producer/singers, our answer to someone like Om'mas Keith for example. His recent motions under the Black Pocket alias have thrown up some real gems, most notably the anthemic 'Ur A Sta' and associated remixes from his bruv DBridge and forward thinking peer, Martyn. 'The Album' is a culmination of this solo endeavour, seventeen tracks of riddim kinked idiosyncracies and future boogie vibes that followers of Dтm-Funk will flock to. From mutilated edit jams like 'Juiced' to squashed midnight wonk on 'Sta Simonez' and soul-glowing beatdown on 'AI Softly' his refined character and some 20 years of production knowledge lend this set a subtle futurism that can't be touched. Spacek's beats are all about that extra little nudge, that tweak of finesse and near-organic depth perception that fans of Mark Pritchard, Floating Points or even DBridge will love.
'Night And Day' is the debut album from Spanish born but British based electronic artist Oriol Singhji. Drawing influence from his eclectic musical tastes, Oriol delivers an albumof classic genre bending electronica taking in everything from lush Detroit techno, early 80s soul, disco and Balearic house. While steeped in dance music's history, Oriol Singhji's 'Night And Day' manages to sound fresh and unique.
2010 debut album from former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft and mates. Recorded in Los Angeles, New York and London, the album was produced by Chicago Hip Hop pioneer No ID (Common, Jay-Z). String arrangements are by Benjamin Wright, the man responsible for the strings on Michael Jackson's Off The Wall, and engineered by Grammy Award-winning Motown legend Reggie Dozier (Outkast, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye). Other musicians featuring on the album include Mary J Blige's guitarist Steve Wyreman, Paul 'DW' Wright (bass), and Derrick Wright (drums). All songs written by Richard Ashcroft.
