Nine pianists, nine recordings, all made on a Steinway D, a grand concert model, patiently restored by a renowned tuner and left on deposit in the Parisian living room of one of them. Nine pianists, who took up the challenge of recording solo (or partially accompanied by a musician of their choice), for an afternoon, on this exceptional instrument. Unity of action, time and place: grouped together in an elegant box illustrated by the images of a photographer-architect surveyor of the capital, these nine solos, between revisited standards and spontaneous improvisation, reflect how much jazz is about the moment. and that in terms of swing, the City of Light is not without talent. From the elder Alain Jean-Marie to the youngest Fred Nardin via Franck Amsallem, Manuel Rocheman, Pierre de Bethmann, Pierre Christophe, Laurent Coq, Vincent Bourgeyx and Laurent Courthaliac, host of the place, the nine invited pianists "At Barloyd's" constitute a fraternal gallery of portraits and as many styles which demonstrate how much being anchored in the tradition of jazz is not an obstacle to accessing modernity.
