Right Place, Wrong Person is RM’s second solo studio album. The album was announced in April 2024, and falls within the alternative genre.

As described by Bighit Music:

[It] captures some some of the universal emotions that we all experience at some point in life, such as the feeling of being an outsider who doesn’t fit in.

The album was teased for the first time in Agust D’s D-DAY Tour’s last concert on 6th August 2023, in Seoul, with a surprise live performance of the song “Come back to me,” which was revealed to be a part of a “new project” RM was working on at the time. A more unofficial teaser was hinted by the creation of an Instagram account with the handle of rpwprpwprpwp (which was later revealed to be RM’s team) on 22nd November 2023, the letters of which coincide with the abbreviation of the album’s title.

Musically, the album features experimental production from established figures in the Korean music industry, such as Mokyo, Zior Park, and Balming Tiger members San Yawn and bj wnjn. Each song pays homage to different genres, such as psychedelic rap on “out of love” or progressive jazz on “Domodachi” featuring veteran UK rapper Little Simz.

Lyrically, RM sifts through many topics characteristic of a transitory phase in his life; from falling in and out of love on “Nuts,” vividly feeling out of place as described on “LOST!” and his views on the obligations that come from superstardom on “Groin.” There are signs of his signature aggressive hip-hop flow from previous cyphers with BTS, all the while showing his forward-facing vocal versatility on other tracks.
