Guy Sweens - Pathways (2016)

Guy was born in the South-East of the Netherlands. As a child, Guy showed much interest in music and was spending time listening to pop and classical music. His grandparents, who had an excellent sounding piano, inspired Guy to play. It was at this time he discovered how he enjoyed composing music by himself, and although Guy could not read music, he managed to compose simple musical pieces by himself. Guy's music can best be defined as vibrant, passionate, spiritual, and saturated with melodic warmth and gentle rhythm. A fusion of western and exotic styles is present with a clear Indian influence. In order to create these textures, Guy uses many different instruments from all over the world, combined with modern synthesis and technology.

"Previously released as "The Passion for Music" as a very limited edition, now completely remastered and sounding fresh as if it was recorded yesterday. With the opening song "Pathway to the Past" I won the MG Music New Talent Competition back in 2005, which resulted in a record deal with MG Music as a professional artist. Inspired by early legends and tales, I would like to take you back to the magical ancient times of dragons, knights, castles and troubadour…and back to the present again! I composed and recorded this classical New Age album between 1995 and 2001. Pathways musically is a mix of various styles like medieval, 16th and 17th century, jazz, oriental, modern and classical music" - Guy Sweens.
