Envy Of None - Stygian Wavz (2025)

Envy Of None are back and ready to send shockwaves through the music world with the announcement of their much-anticipated second album, Stygian Wavz.

The news comes hot on the heels of a buzzing streak of activity from the Canadian/American collective, who have already dropped two singles – the electric "Not Dead Yet" and the haunting "Under The Stars" – both of which will make their way onto the new record.

In celebration of the big reveal, the band has unveiled the album’s title track, "Stygian Waves," alongside a mesmerizing new music video crafted by the brilliant animator and director Mariano Biotico.

Few bands can boast a lineup like this: Alex Lifeson, the legendary guitarist behind Rush’s genre-defining sound; Andy Curran, bassist and programmer extraordinaire with a rich history in Coney Hatch and Soho 69; and Alfio Annibalini, whose keyboard wizardry helps anchor the band’s ethereal vibe.

But perhaps the group’s secret weapon is its youngest member, American singer-songwriter Maiah Wynne. With her soaring, emotive voice, Wynne brings an infectious energy and depth that propels the band’s music into thrilling new territory.

On their 2022 self-titled debut, Envy Of None showcased their ability to push boundaries, weaving a sophisticated, unpredictable blend of alt-rock. With Stygian Wavz, the band’s sophomore effort, they come out swinging with even more creative confidence, taking listeners on a ride through complex, genre-defying soundscapes that leave the mind reeling and the heart racing.

There was a palpable sense of anticipation in the air when Envy of None announced their debut in 2022. After all, it marked the first full-band project from world-renowned guitarist Alex Lifeson since his groundbreaking work with the legendary prog-rock trio Rush. Lifeson joined forces with a remarkable lineup: rising star Maiah Wynne on vocals, esteemed producer Alfio Annibalini (guitar, keyboards), Coney Hatch’s Andy Curran (bass, programming, guitar), and features Canadian session legend Randy Cooke (Mick Jagger, Alanis Morisette, Kelly Clarkson) on drums. Their debut exceeded expectations, with Record Collector describing it as "rich in creativity" in a 4-star review, and France's Rock Hard Magazine naming it Album of the Month and praising its "effective, modern, inspired tracks."

The 11 songs on the album mark a significant progression in the band’s sound, every song meticulously lasered down to its most essential and captivating elements. With the band’s very own Alf Annibalini on mixing duties, the songs benefit from an intrinsic understanding of their evolution, his involvement in the writing process ensuring the mix truly captures the essence of their vision. Mastering by Harry Hess at HBomb Mastering (Barenaked Ladies, Billy Talent, Big Wreck) completes the album’s flawless sound quality.
