Le tout dernier enregistrement du pianiste David Jalbert présente une transcription pour piano des Sept dernières paroles du Christ en croix de Haydn. Commandées à l’origine comme une œuvre orchestrale devant être jouée le Vendredi saint, Les Sept dernières paroles se révèlent être une interprétation musicale des derniers moments du Christ tels que rapportés par les quatre évangélistes. À la suite de son succès initial, Haydn a arrangé l’œuvre pour quatuor à cordes et a ensuite autorisé une transcription anonyme pour clavier. L’incarnation finale de l’œuvre sous forme d’oratorio a été créée en 1796, plusieurs années avant La Création et Les Saisons.
