On March 31, the live album A Modern Songbook by Thomas Enhco and Stéphane Kerecki will be released on Sony Music – a summit meeting of two virtuosos.

When the brilliant pianist Thomas Enhco and the indispensable double bassist Stéphane Kerecki interpret timeless classics such as Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin or Fields of Gold by Sting together, a smooth jazz gem with unforgettable chill ballad is created. Thomas Enhco is a pianist and composer and experimented with music in its full range from an early age: classical and popular music, written and improvised. His stepfather, the violinist Didier Lockwood, introduced him to the world of great jazz musicians. He was already immersed in the intensity of the clubs as a child and felt equally comfortable as a jazz pianist, classical soloist or composer.

The double bassist Stéphane Kerecki is known for his diverse collaborations, which have received several awards. His free style, which navigates between classical compositions and avant-garde creations, regularly earns him praise from the trade press.

At the beginning of this project, both friends were on the tennis court, even during the pandemic, until they played the ball to each other in a different way and exchanged the rackets for their instruments. Together, the friends are trying to slow down the frenzied time. The duo chooses pure harmonic grids and leaves efficiency behind in favor of weightlessness: "We wanted to savor the space between the notes," says Thomas, "and enjoy the silence.
