Near Dark is an American vampire/Western horror film, written by Eric Red and Kathryn Bigelow, and directed by Bigelow. Starring then little-known actors Adrian Pasdar and Jenny Wright, the movie was released in 1987, part of a revival of serious vampire movies in the late 1980s.

Catch-22 is a 1970 war film adapted from the book of the same name by Joseph Heller. Considered a black comedy revolving around the "lunatic characters" of Heller's satirical novel, the film was mired in production problems and artistic issues that led to its commercial failure.

Although a talented production team – which included director Mike Nichols and screenwriter Buck Henry (who also acted in the film) – worked on the film for two years, the complex task of recreating a World War II bomber base and translating an anti-war satire proved daunting.Besides Henry, the cast included Alan Arkin, Martin Balsam, Anthony Perkins, Paula Prentiss, Martin Sheen, Jon Voight and Orson Welles.

The journalist Célio Rocha (Pedro Cardoso) has been living a serious problem in the breast of his family for years: his father used all his savings to buy an apartment from the father of his childhood friend Otávio Sabóia (Miguel Falabella), indeed a corrupt constructor who never delivered the building to the owners. When the father of Otávio commits suicide, Célio is assigned for an interview with Otávio, and is invited by Otávio to participate in a scheme in Cayman Islands, where he would receive five millions dollars. However, Célio has a breakdown when his father dies, and believed God assigned him to make Otávio give away all the money he has on behalf of the homeless.

When Alex gets word that his psychiatrist has committed suicide he begins to unravel, but he puts his emotions on hold after the young daughter of the dead doctor begs Alex to help her solve the mystery of her father’s death. The girl doesn’t believe that her father committed suicide and she’s determined to find out who murdered him in order to honor his memory and claim her inheritance. Together this unlikely pair embark on a dark journey that will invade the private lives of the doctor’s disturbed patients and finally unveil the terrible mystery of The Third Secret.

Popeye is a 1980 live-action film directed by Robert Altman and adapted from E. C. Segar's Thimble Theatre comic strip. The screenplay by Jules Feiffer was based directly on Thimble Theatre Starring Popeye the Sailor, a hardcover reprint collection of 1936-37 Segar strips published in 1971 by Woody Gelman's Nostalgia Press.

Falk sets out to search for Genesis and discovers a community set up on an island in two abandoned freighters where people have made remarkable progress in starting to rebuild. But at the same time, the gang of Ravagers come after Falk, seeking revenge.

While outlawed since 1933, cockfighting was still widely popular in Georgia at the time. Warren Oates plays Frank Mansfield, a cockfighter who, after shooting his mouth off once too often, takes a vow of silence, which he will not break until he wins the ‘Cockfighter of the Year” award. Warren Oates delivers an amazing performance. Most of the fights seen in the movie were filmed during real life competitions.

The Body Snatcher (1945), is a horror film directed by Robert Wise based on the short story The Body Snatcher by Robert Louis Stevenson. The film's producer Val Lewton helped adapt the story for the screen, writing under the pen name of "Carlos Keith". The film was marketed with the tagline The screen's last word in shock sensation!.

Inserts is a 1974 British film directed by John Byrum starring Richard Dreyfuss, Jessica Harper, and Veronica Cartwright. It was originally rated X but later re-rated as NC 17. The story concerns a pornographic film production and the film took its name from the double meaning that "insert" both refers to a film technique and to sexual intercourse. The film has a small cult following.

Starring Thomas Jane, Ashley Taylor, David O'Hara and Dexter Fletcher, this film is based on the true story of South African cop Andre Stander. Disgusted by corruption within the force, Stander begins robbing banks incognito and then investigating his own crimes. He's soon caught and sent to jail, but escapes and continues his life of crime aided by a gang. Stander and his men gain cult hero status and become the most hunted men in South Africa.

Freaks (1932) is a horror film about sideshow performers, directed and produced by Tod Browning and released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, with a cast mostly composed of actual carnival performers. The film was based on Tod Robbins' short story Spurs. Director Browning took the exceptional step of casting real people with deformities as the eponymous sideshow "freaks," rather than using costumes and makeup.

The greatest colombian movie ever made, "Cóndores" is a shining portrait of one of the most violent eras in latinamerican history, brilliantly directed, with class and measure, by Francisco Norden. Frank Ramírez gives an unforgettable performance as León María Lozano, a simple man whose faith to the party and his misconceived principles lead him on a savage killing spree and turn him into the one of the biggest assassins of a violent time. We can sense through him the confusion, the anger and the need for redemption that led to a war that bled and still bleeds Colombia to death. Adapted from a great Colombian novel, this film surpasses its source material and becomes chilling, moving and compelling cinema, an example of what Colombian and Latinamerican cinema can be at its noblest form.

On the Beach is a 1959 post-apocalyptic drama film based on Nevil Shute's novel of the same name featuring Gregory Peck (USS Sawfish captain Dwight Lionel Towers), Ava Gardner (Moira Davidson), Fred Astaire (scientist Julian – John in the novel – Osborne) and Anthony Perkins (Australian naval officer Peter Holmes). It was directed by Stanley Kramer, who won the 1960 BAFTA for best director. Ernest Gold won the 1960 Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Score.

The film tells a story of Mariana, a depressing nurse working in Lisbon. She accompanies an immigrant worker in a comatose sleep on his trip to home. After she arrives in Cape Verde, she encounters the strange and enigmatic world. The devoted Portuguese nurse took a journey only to find herself lost in abstract drama. There she finds that "she brought a living man among the dead."
