Fried Bourbon is part of the next generation Blues bands in Belgium, looking for ways to keep the form exciting, vital and evolving. Inspired by the Blues 'N' Boogie music from the '50s, Fried Bourbon manages to mix old and modern sounds, colors and rhythms with a recognizable and unique sound. Their music can be described as a mixture of swinging, danceable Jump Blues and harmonica-oriented Chicago Blues. For this album, Fried Bourbon has been working together with Blues legend Gene Taylor (piano) who flew over from the USA to participate in this project.

Well established in the British music scene, Ian Siegal is now becoming a fixture on the European Blues scene. Having performed on a.o. The Lugano and North Sea Jazz Festival, he and his band are receiving rave reviews for their dynamic live performances and they’re stirring up quite a buzz. EG Kight’s refreshing twist on blues music is earthy as well as explosive. She is a powerhouse performer with tremendous style, and her songs are exciting, comforting and exceptionally polished. Kight pours her soul into every note she sings, struts her vocals with confidence, and brings the listener to their knees with her powerful lyrics.

Within the first few notes of Love and Money it’s perfectly clear that Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers is living this song. Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers has astounded me with this amazing track. In Clap Your Hands the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. California Fire Blues is absolutely incredible. After about the third Diamonds at Her Feet listen through, I began to believe this song is Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers’s essence. Ju Ju Cocktail - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Stinger - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. In Blue Hour it becomes nowhere more obvious that Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers has yet to define own style. A fantastic track full of wonder. The opening track They Want Money is very much like you would expect from other albums.

Recorded at Red Roacks on June 17, 1985 this soundboard has, in my opinion, the best Little Wing I have ever heard. Stevie was still in his using days here and the pain that flows out of him through his fingers is simply staggering. It also makes for one of the most incendiary performances of his career. On their third collaboration, Robin Trower and Jack Bruce again opt for the blues-influenced, rocking, power trio format that suits them so well. Gary Husband plays the drums.
Trower Hendrix-influenced but very personal guitar playing is truly superb. Jack Bruce's highly commercial voice and distinctive bass playing make for a most appealing combination. Gary Husband is, of course, a superlative drummer having previously recorded with great musicians including Gary Moore, Allan Holdsworth, Billy Cobham and John McLaughlin. He has also already collaborated with Jack Bruce. He proves to be the perfect drummer for this album.
