Не имею понятия почему этот альбом не вошел в список “лучших” джазовых пластинок прошлого столетия, но мне он нравиться и я предлагаю Вам его послушать.

An unusual set with Louis Armstrong singing a variety of popular standards in a relaxed and easy-going manner, he is backed by the Oscar Peterson trio and drummer Louis Bellson. Few fireworks occur but the change of pace for Armstrong (who also contributes some brief trumpet solos) is refreshing.

An absolute perfect album. The Sound quality is great! This is a very good impression about Buddy’s year 2000 shows. Buddy is in great shape and good mood. The audience makes it possible for Buddy to play “soft”. Tony is great on keyboards.

Otis Rush is backed (but never swamped) by a solid horn section, and his intense vocals have become a bit darker with age, but his big, expressive singing voice and sizzling guitar work are still his greatest assets. Rush’s lengthy solos on “Looking Back” and “Any Place I’m Going (Beats Any Place I’ve Been)” are deceptively clean and understated, but turn it up a bit and you’ll hear why Otis Rush is considered one of the finest blues guitarists ever to lay hands on a volume knob.

Blues guitarist and longtime Buddy Guy sideman Scott Holt was born June 26, 1966, in Lawrenceburg, TN; he did not begin learning guitar until the age of 20, but proved a quick study, seeking his earliest inspiration in the music of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Ultimately, Holt’s chief influence was Buddy Guy, whom he first met after a show in 1987; the two collaborated infrequently in the months to follow, and in the autumn of 1989, Holt was invited to join Guy’s band. Three years later, he formed his own group, the Scott Holt Band, to hone his chops during Guy’s breaks from the road; in 1998 he cut his first headlining album, Messing with the Kid, followed a year later by Dark of the Night. Angels in Exile appeared in spring 2001. (AMG)
