Johann Jacob Froberger war einer der bekanntesten und zugleich rätselhaftesten Musiker des 17. Jahrhunderts. 1616 in Stuttgart geboren und 1667 im Dienst der verwitweten Herzogin Sybilla aus der Mömpelgarder Nebenlinie des Hauses Württemberg gestorben, bilden sich in seinem Schaffen alle wichtigen Formen, Satzkonzepte und Ausdrucksideale seiner Epoche ab. Froberger fasziniert gerade in der heutigen Zeit, da alles »Europäische« wieder einmal auf dem Prüfstand steht.

In February of 2015, Grammy Award-winning band Snarky Puppy recorded Family Dinner Volume Two in front of a live studio audience with guest instrumentalists and vocalists from all over the world. A companion piece to the monumental album, this documentary/concert-film features exclusive candid interviews and acoustic performances from the guest artists. THE FULL 1986 SYDNEY BROADCAST ACROSS 2 x CDS Bob Dylan and Tom Petty were just three weeks into their 1986 True Confessions world tour when they brought in a professional camera crew to film a two-night stand at Sydney, Australia's Entertainment Centre.

In the Baroque period, the duetto da camera, usually conceived for two equal voices and continuo, was an important form of vocal chamber music, of which innumerable examples are found in the works of composers associated with Venice, the leading protagonist in the history of this genre. Venetian Sara Mingardo is joined by a large group of young, talented solo female voices (Silva Frigato, Lea Desandre… ) in this amazing project, where masterpieces by the leading composers of the time have been entrusted to the voices best suited to highlight the respective particular musical content.

En este segundo disco que la clavicembalista y directora valenciana Marian Rosa Montagut y el conjunto Harmonia del Parnàs consagran a rescatar del olvido la obra del veneciano de nacimiento y español de adopción Francesco Corradini (±1690-1769), se nos brinda una selección de arias, algunas con sus recitativos precedentes, tomadas de la “fábula pastoral” La Dorinda, la cual, por iniciativa del capitán general de Valencia, Luis Regio Branciforte (1677-1757), Príncipe de Campoflorido, fue presentada en hoy desaparecido Palacio Real de la ciudad de Turia el 19 de noviembre de 1730 para festejar la onomástica de la reina Isabel de Farnesio (1692-1766), de quién, por cierto, Corradini andando el tiempo acabaría siendo Maestro de Música de Cámara en el Real Sitio de la Granja de San Ildefonso.

Unlike its companion, Complete Rarities: IRS 1982-1987, the music collected on the 2014 digital-only Complete Warner Bros. Rarities 1988-2011 hasn't been anthologized often. Bits and pieces have been rounded up in singles boxes, and there was a "Rarities and B-sides" bonus disc added to the 2003 compilation In Time: The Best of R.E.M. 1988-2003, but there was no Warner-era equivalent of Dead Letter Office, and the expanded editions of the albums often skimped on bonus tracks. So this mammoth collection – 131 tracks, all instrumentals, alternate, and singles, mixes, covers, and live tracks that never appeared on albums – is noteworthy for providing a service for dedicated fans who nevertheless stopped buying all those multi-part CD singles somewhere around New Adventures in Hi-Fi or Up. The eagle-eyed will notice there are a few songs missing – usually, these are alternate versions from the early '90s – but there are also a couple of live cover versions M.I.A., along with instrumental B-sides from Automatic for the People – but the sheer heft of the set guarantees that almost all will take its title claim of "Complete" as factual; it's close enough to complete for most intents and purposes.

This attractive mixed programme of Telemann’s works featuring flute or recorder has been designed by Ashley Solomon to celebrate Florilegium’s 25th anniversary. The triple concerto for flute, oboe d’amore and viola d’amore in E major stands out as one of the composer’s most beguiling masterpieces: the limpid opening Andante sounds like a serene evocation of sunrise that anticipates the mature Haydn by several decades; the soloists Solomon, Alexandra Bellamy and Bojan Čičić play with elegant finesse, and also conjure up refined melancholy in an intimately conversational Siciliana. The double concerto for recorder and viola da gamba in A minor is a charming example of Telemann’s taste for synthesising French and Italian musical styles with elements of Polish folk music; Florilegium’s civilised elegance in the French-style Grave, gently Italianate sway in the Allegro, and Solomon’s duet with gambist Reiko Ichise in the Dolce has pastoral sensitivity. At the heart of the programme is Ihr Völker hört, a cantata for solo voice and obbligato instrument that was published in the first instalment of the series Harmonischer Gottes-Dienst. Clare Wilkinson’s softly convivial and articulate singing communicates the cheerful Epiphany text.

This album from Zanov, French Electronic artist since 1976, will transport you to 9 different, unknown, surprising and wonderful musical worlds. After reestablishing the link between past and future, Zanov had many musical and sound ideas for 2015. He got an Access Virus TI synthesizer, in addition to the Arturia Origin and began composing a new album. This album features shorter independent pieces, which are based on different and original ideas, and reflect the color of his music. He creates his sounds from his emotions and pays particular attention to their combination and evolution.

Lover, Beloved: Songs from an Evening with Carson McCullers is the ninth studio album by the American singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega. The album is based on a play "Carson McCullers Talks About Love" about the life of the writer Carson McCullers, written and performed by Vega, which premiered in 2011. Suzanne Vega wrote 8 songs in collaboration with Duncan Sheik and 2 with Michael Jefry Stevens.

Since the late 1960s, Snowy and his characteristic guitar-playing have made their mark on tasteful blues rock. I have many versions of this great concerto. My first ever exposure to this work was a recording by Witold Malcuzynski that I have now acquired on CD. Since the 1960s I have collected recordings by many great pianists including Bronfman, Glemser, Ashkenazy, Janis, Gilels, Vasary, Horowitz, Lympany, Gieseking, Helfgott, de Larrocha, Rachmaninoff, Wild, Kapell, Bolet, Argerich, Malcuzynski - and just when I thought I'd heard all the Rach 3 had to say, along comes this sublime recording by the late great Lazar Berman. The playing is clear, romantic, musically intelligent, exciting and enjoyable and satisfying in every way.
