Magician's assistant Corky performs disastrously at his first solo appearance. He is given a ventriloquist dummy called Fats to improve his act and within a few years Corky is at the height of fame. However, Fats has developed a mind of his own and wants to control his master.



After magician Corky Withers flops in his first solo appearance, he tries adding a ventriloquist dummy called Fats to his act. This improves his act so much that within a few years he is famous. So famous, in fact, that seeks a new life at an isolated mountain retreat that is run by his high school girlfriend Peggy. But the vicious Fats, who has developed a strong mind of his own, has no intention of turning his back on fame and will stop at nothing to control Corky and get what he wants.
